It seems to me you were not motivated enough or patient enough to learn Spanish ;) The best method which worked for me was to live in Spain for a while. I'm the guy who failed Spanish 1 starting twice, 52 years ago when I was in high school and was able to learn a lot quicker then now. Also I have tried several times since then including some programs that are well known. I do think it would be nice to know just to be able to ease drop on what some people are saying when they don't know that I can understand them. I would love to learn Spanish.
