As promised in my previous post, I’ll show you some more great ways to teach yourself Spanish. Have a look at them:
1. CDs/tapes – because much of the learning process is through repetition, popping a conversational Spanish CD into your car’s player can allow you to listen and repeat a new language as you drive to work. Not only are you getting an education, but this method may help to cut down on your road rage!
2. Software – using Spanish language software is another good method, as you can follow formulated lesson plans at your own pace in the privacy of your own home. You can go as fast or as slow as you want, and you’ll never feel stupid asking questions or comparing yourself with other students.
3. 501 Spanish Verbs – as you learn to formulate sentences, it is helpful to have a book of verbs, both regular and irregular, for easy reference. This handy book lists the most common verbs (of which there are apparently 501), fully conjugated.

4. Guide to Spanish Idioms – as you become more advanced in the Spanish language, this is another handy reference book to have. Idioms—common expressions within each language that cannot be literally translated so must be memorized—allow you to immerse yourself more deeply in the language. Common English idioms are ”raining cats and dogs”, ”two heads are better than one” and ”a watched pot never boils”.
Teaching yourself Spanish does not need to be difficult, boring or costly
. With these eight simple and enjoyable methods, you will be well on your way to learning a new language for business, travel or fun!
