How I started to learn conversational Spanish

Learn Spanish EasyIt’s not a usual museum;)

How I started to learn conversational Spanish? It was more than 10 years ago…

I fell in love with a Spanish guy! He was one of the reasons why I decided to travel independently to Spain and have fun! I was curious about this country, culture, lifestyle, architecture, food, music, people. I love travelling so it was a fantastic adventure and challenge for me to go there.

At that time I knew some Spanish words – the most common ones only, as “hola”, “gracias”, “buenos dias” and a couple more but I was ready to go anyway. I knew I would learn basic conversational Spanish there. Well, when I arrived to Madrid I found out quite quickly that few people spoke English!!! Now after all those years it still hasn’t changed much, so it is a great advice for anyone travelling to Spain independently to learn some basic Spanish beforehand. Of course those of you who belong to Couchsurfing project and don’t speak Spanish can relax ;)

But coming back to my first Spanish adventure…. I stayed in Spain for 2 months, visited Madrid, Valladolid, Santiago de Compostela, Salamanca. The great thing is that much of that time I was on my own and was really forced to learn conversational Spanish. I did perfectly well!! There are in fact many similarities between English and Spanish, so with my determination and focus and of course will to survive I came back knowing decent bunch of useful Spanish words and expressions. I was happy to learn basic Spanish for free :) But most of all I knew I became passionate about Spain and everything related. And my adventure with this culture has begun…
